The Project
The Townsend Smith Foundation is working to build North Halton’s first hospice residence. This hospice will provide 24-hour palliative care for individuals living with a life-limiting illness, support services for that individuals’ loved ones, and community services.
The hospice will be calm, peaceful and home-like. It will offer specialized, individualized care, recognizing that residents are in their final journey and need comfort and kindness.
The specific layout and floor plans will be determined based on site selection, need and budget. The Townsend Smith Foundation seeks to have the following included in the hospice and additional infrastructure would be included based on available funds:
- Ten private rooms for residents
- Each private room has the ability to accommodate overnight guests
- Family room or visiting room
- Serene outdoor areas
- Kitchen and dining facilities
- Specialized shower and bathing facilities
- Children’s play area
